Loop Closures

This section defines how to improve accuracy and achieve best results when scanning.

In order to capture the best result with REVO systems it is important to:

  • End the scan at the same place where started;
  • Create internal loops whilst scanning

Going in one direction and then following your footsteps back is not the same as closing the loop from a different direction.

By closing a loop, you are making repeated measurements of the same area but the error is NOT spread in the same way around the loop.

The longer the scan length without closing a loop, the more absolute error will be created.

When scanning multiple floors, loops must be closed both horizontally and vertically.
